Shanghai Donglei Brain Hospital (BDG) is a 20,000 square meter, tertiary-level brain specialty hospital located at No. 988 Huaxu Highway, Qingpu District, Shanghai. As China's premier private brain specialty institution, we combine cutting-edge neurosurgical technology with compassionate, patient-first care.

Founded by Prof. Song Donglei — former Director of Neurosurgery at Fudan University's Huashan Hospital — and co-invested by the Shanghai government, Donglei Brain Hospital is designated as a Shanghai medical insurance-covered hospital. Our team of specialists are mostly trained at Huashan and Tiantan hospitals, China's top two neurosurgery centers.

Prof. Song Donglei is a renowned neurosurgeon who served as Director of Neurosurgery at Fudan University's Huashan Hospital — consistently ranked among China's top three neurosurgery centers. A doctoral supervisor and pioneer in cerebrovascular microsurgery, Prof. Song has performed thousands of complex brain surgeries and trained generations of neurosurgeons.

In 2015, Prof. Song founded the Brain Doctor Group (BDG) — one of China's first and most successful physician groups — with a vision to bring Huashan-caliber neurosurgery to a patient-centered, private hospital setting. Shanghai Donglei Brain Hospital, opened in 2019 with government co-investment, is the culmination of this vision.

Under his leadership, the hospital has become a training base for Nantong University Medical School, a founding member of the China Physician Group Alliance, and the headquarters of the Shanghai Social Medical Institutions Association Neurosurgery Branch.
